Q) Everyone has that “Aha!” moment in their life when they figure out what they really wanted to do as a career. What was the first sign that you were meant for the events and meeting industry?
A) I’ve always naturally played the “planner” role for my friends and family, but when I was in college I was put in charge of planning the events for an on-campus organization, and I think that is what really sparked my interest in the idea of being an event planner for my career. I fell in love with the process, and watching the event come to life!
Q) How did you learn about Red Velvet Events?
A) I found Red Velvet Events while researching event companies in Austin on LinkedIn – it was the number one post! I messaged Cindy and Sarah to inquire about the company, and they were both so kind and responsive, and I knew then that RVE was the company I wanted to work for!
Q) RVE’s love for Austin is well known. What’s your very favorite thing about Austin?
A) The people! When I moved to Austin I immediately felt welcomed by not just the RVE team, but the city as a whole. Every single person I’ve met has been incredibly kind and friendly. I think that’s a big part of what makes Austin the amazing city it is!
Q) Nothing’s perfect – not even our beloved city. If money and time were no object, what’s the one thing you would change about Austin?
A) I know everyone says this, but the traffic! I grew up in a city with a lot of traffic, and when I moved here I was so surprised that our highways only have 3 lanes in many places, so if I could magically add lanes to all of the highways and finish all construction, that is where I’d start…..I’d also add more parking spaces downtown while I was at it. 🙂
Q) Everyone says they’re detailed-oriented. But what secret trait about you really demonstrates your commitment to order and details?
A) As basic as this may be, I have to write everything down on paper (or my computer). I make to-do lists for each of my events and then prioritize those tasks into a larger, more general to-do list at the beginning of each day. This helps me to accurately plan out my time and ensure no detail is forgotten for any of my events.
