Creativity at Play

When I first started in the events industry almost 14 years ago, I found that the most interesting way of growing my business was surrounding myself with others who knew a lot more than me and soaking up every nugget of inspiration they were willing to share. I became involved with organizations like ILEA (formerly International Special Events Society), MPI, NACE—the list was long. I often applied for scholarships so I could attend as many of the annual conferences as possible because I was just starting out and had very little cash. Fast forward to now, and I still pinch myself that I’m the one being asked to be the guest speaker. And people go out of their way to attend my sessions… say what?! I love teaching and sharing what I’ve learned along the way. It really is a great way to give back.

On August 12, I’ll be speaking at ILEA Live (formerly ISES Live and Event World) on a panel called Creativity at Play with four other industry professionals. In it, we’ll discuss the need for increased productivity in the events industry and the creative thinking it takes to get there. Some of the specific topics that we’ll cover include how we harness the creative process to maximize success, develop RFPs and storyboards, advance innovation, and more. I encourage you to join this interactive session where we’ll play together to bring creativity to life.

Creativity at Play is from 2:20 – 3:20 PM at the JW Marriott in Downtown Austin. Click here for details about my fellow panelists, our discussion, and ILEA Live. Be sure to attend and let’s play together!
