Big. Shiny. New. Let’s get to know the new JW Marriott Austin.
After two and a half years of construction..
The new JW Marriott luxury hotel in downtown Austin is open! It’s a beautiful hotel and an amazing addition to what our city of Austin has to offer.
Located at the intersection of Second Street (also known as Willie Nelson Boulevard) and Congress Avenue, the 34-story hotel is the largest hotel in Austin. It’s also the largest JW Marriott in the United States and the second-largest JW Marriott in the world.
The stunning lobby has a Texas design theme, with flowers and cacti arranged in tall, cylindrical vases; a crisscross rope wall surrounding the bar; a topographical map of Austin illustrated on the lobby ceiling and floor; a cactus graphic behind the front desk and a fantastic glass-walled fireplace with flame flickering through white and clear stones, illuminating a metal sculpture that looks like a flock of birds taking flight.
The Texas theme continues throughout the building, including a large outline of the state of Texas etched into the bottom of the fifth-floor pool.
Make sure to check out the interactive touch screens in the lobby, which give guests information about local landmarks, museums, shopping and recreation. Or if you need a private group tour, our DMC team can help.
Dining options abound.
Indulge yourself at the Osteria Pronto, a regional Italian restaurant; Corner, featuring a variety of grilled meats and fish; and the Burger Bar, which has a walk-up window on Congress Avenue. Even the second-floor Starbucks in the hotel probably has the best view of any Starbucks in Austin, with clear views of downtown through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
The JW Marriott is perfect for large conventions and meetings, and is a short two blocks from the Austin Convention Center. It has more than 112,000 square feet of event space, 42 meeting rooms and 1,012 guest rooms. More than 520,000 room nights have already been reserved through 2021.
“We are thrilled to have the JW finally open, as it only means great things are to come to Austin, for city-wides and conventions. I’ve also been very proud of the team for coming up with new and fresh ideas on how to use the new ballroom space for our clients’ meetings and then turning the room into a fun-themed reception in the evenings,” said Cindy Y. Lo, owner of Red Velvet Events, a Global DMC Partner.
