As Austin’s premier events planning company, Red Velvet Events knows what it takes to succeed in the industry. A big part of our success is about giving our clients what they want, to the letter! And that got us thinking about the ABCs of RVE and professional event management. This is the latest in a series of posts which we hope will spell out success in this business – from A to Z!

G is for Go-To Person.

In the event planning industry, the person who operates with the mindset of a “go-to” person will always succeed. Be the first person clients think of when they want to host an event! When clients know you are competent, willing, knowledgeable and effective, they will always come to you. That doesn’t mean you know everything or can even fulfill on every concept. But maybe you can point the client in the direction of someone who does. A “go-to” event planner is a successful event planner!

H is for Honesty.

It really is the best policy. Clear, clean and open lines of communication are integral to executing a successful event. That means honesty between the event planner and the client as well as the members on the event planning team. Too much happens during an event for there to be any breaches around integrity. It’s simple, as RVE Cindy Lo wrote in a previous post “My Word is My Bond.” Tell the truth, be direct, admit mistakes and move on.

I is for Incentives.

Where would many corporations be without their sales teams? When a client comes to you and says it wants to thank the team members for exceeding their quotas, you must come through with the perfect sort of reward. Incentive trips are a great way to go—whether it’s a one-day fun-day at a Dave & Busters, a relaxing 2-day retreat or a week-long jaunt around Italy! (Depending, of course, on the budget.)

Next month, we continue the ABCs of RVE. Click here to review your lesson!
