THE ABC’s of RVE – D, E & F
As Austin’s premier events planning company, Red Velvet Events knows what it takes to succeed in the industry. A big part of our success is about giving our clients what they want, to the letter! And that got us thinking about the ABCs of RVE and professional event management. This is the latest in a series of posts which we hope will spell out success in this business – from A to Z!
D is for Dine-Arounds.
One way to a conference-goer’s heart is through his or her belly. That’s why “dine-arounds” are so important. A dine-around involves taking clients to local restaurants so they can get a feel for the culinary experience of the city. RVE prides itself on trying out every restaurant in town, knowing what the food and service are like, and taking the client through a certain kind of dining experience.
E is for Ego.
If you want to really thrive in this business, you’ll have to check your ego at the door. Even planners of the most extravagant and A-list events have to be willing to get their hands a little dirty now and then. Here at RVE, we don’t understand, “That’s not my job.” We’re a team, and it truly takes a team mentality to pull off an impressive event. Remember, your client has entrusted YOU with its brand! It’s the client’s time to shine, not yours!
F is for Fun.
Don’t sweat the small stuff! And try not to sweat the big stuff too much. In the world of event planning, there will be plenty of occasions when situations don’t roll out exactly as you planned. Even on your worst day, you have to love what you do. The successful event planner will constantly be generating a good time and always making sure the client is having fun!
