Learn how they got into this fast-paced industry, how they manage mega-level multitasking and what special skills they bring to the table to help RVE Outplan. Outplay. Outparty!
Q) Everyone has that “Aha!” moment in their life when they figure out what they really wanted to do as a career. What was the first sign that you were meant for the events and meeting industry?
A) I don’t know if I ever had a specific “Aha!” moment, but I have always loved working in jobs that are fast paced. In addition, I love to organize and make things pretty. I also enjoy managing things, people, schedules, inboxes and relationships, so a job at RVE was the perfect fit for me!
Q) How did you learn about Red Velvet Events?
A) I had actually just finished updating my resume, but had been holding off on looking for a new job. A close friend of mine who always used to joke about me being his assistant told me that he knew someone who was looking for one. I have never read a job description that fit my personality more! This is one of many reasons why it pays to surround yourself with good people who know you and your skills really well.
Q) Out of all of your RVE projects, which one have you been most proud of? Why?
A) I do not directly manage events, but I work with a lot of programs and they are all great! I am proud to assist wherever and whenever the team needs me.
Q) RVE’s love for Austin is well known. What’s your very favorite thing about Austin?
A) My favorite thing about Austin is the food. I am a vegetarian, and I am passionate about organic foods and nutrition. Austin has a GREAT selection of natural food stores and restaurants.
Q) Nothing’s perfect — not even our beloved city. If money and time were no object, what’s the one thing you would change about Austin?
A) I actually live in Georgetown – not too far away from Austin, except when dealing with traffic. If I could change one thing, it would definitely be the traffic. My commute can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half, which is ridiculous!
Q) Everyone says they’re detailed-oriented. But what secret trait about you really demonstrates your commitment to order and details?
A) My husband and I recently moved into our first house. He can’t find anything because I unpacked all of the boxes and organized the entire house myself. I just really wanted to make sure everything was where I wanted it. Not that he wouldn’t have helped if I’d asked!
