What the Rising Star Award Means to RVE

It’s no secret that I’m a huge Longhorn. A proud graduate of the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin, I bleed burnt orange every football season – and throughout the year, too. So when I discovered that I had been nominated for the McCombs School of Business Rising Star Award – and that I was one of two selected winners – I was overcome with gratitude. My dear friends Andrew Vo, Marcie Shelton and Sarah Lo were gracious enough to nominate me, which made the award even more of an honor.

This award is very special to me because it spotlights young McCombs School alums who are not only achieving success, but who are also improving their communities. As a business professional, an Austinite and a Longhorn, it’s very important to me personally and professionally to help “Keep Austin Weird” and wonderful. Much of my job involves promoting Austin around the country and the world as a great place to visit, and I strive to inspire the same love of our town in my RVE team members. At RVE, we also try to give back as much as we can, from assisting with nonprofit events to sharing our knowledge with our community and colleagues through public speaking and networking.

Without the incredible education and training I received at the McCombs School, I know I wouldn’t be where I am today. I’m so grateful for every learning opportunity I received there, and I look forward to continuing to take what I’ve learned and apply it toward making RVE – and Austin – a smashing success!
