Our SXSWi Wrap-Up

March 26, 2013 Austin, Social & Festivals, SXSW

See You Next Year!

Since another exciting, fun-filled South By Southwest (SXSW) has come and gone, we wanted to take a moment and share our thoughts on this year’s version of the ever-expanding festival.

While we didn’t get to attend much of the SXSW Film or Music festivals – and while we didn’t get to meet the famed Grumpy Cat – we did see and learn quite a bit at SXSW Interactive (SXSWi). Red Velvet Events has roots in Austin’s high-tech community; so in addition to producing SXSWi events, we always make sure to catch some of the festival’s panels to see what’s new and exciting in the tech world.

During SXSWi, we learned about some interesting up-and-coming apps. We haven’t had a chance to give them a full test-run, but here are the products that piqued our interest:

Splash.

This tool lets you fully customize your guests’ event experience from one simple site. It integrates invitations, registration, event branding, social media programs, event budgets, file sharing and more.

Timehop.

View a “time capsule” of your social media memories with this app, which sends you a daily message about the tweets, Facebook posts, Foursquare check-ins or Instagram photos you created one year ago on that date.

Voxer.

This app combines the ease of a walkie-talkie with added bonuses like hands-free communication. You can leave short push-to-talk messages for one friend or for a whole group, and receive them either in real time or at your convenience.

Meanwhile, our good friends over at BP3 covered SXSWi pretty extensively in their blog. We particularly enjoyed their Day 2 post, which focused on inspiration and innovation.

Your Turn.

Did you see anything at SXSWi that really intrigued you? We’d love to hear about it in the comments section!
