The 4-1-1 on ACL: What to Bring to and Expect at Austin City Limits Music Festival
Get Ready for ACL – And Austin
Every year, it seems like the Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL) gets bigger and better. As with South by Southwest (SXSW), people come from all over the world to attend the festival – only at ACL, you don’t need to invest in a week-long wristband to see the biggest acts live on stage.
If you’re thinking of coming to ACL this year, you’re not alone. According to Wikipedia, over 70,000 people attend each day of the festival! So make sure you’re not left out of the fun by following these tips:
Tickets sell out quickly, so buy yours as soon as you can. The same goes for your plane tickets and accommodations. If you’re planning on finding a hotel when you get to Austin, you’ll probably be out of luck – rooms go fast during big event weekends, often several months in advance. Make sure your hotel or rental reservations are booked with time to spare.
Eating and Meeting.
Austin is quickly becoming a culinary capital, so do research ahead of time to see what restaurants you’d like to visit while you’re here and whether or not they take reservations.
Shop ‘Til You Drop.
ACL has several fantastic booths peddling artistic wares, so leave room in your luggage for any cool, creative finds you might purchase.
Weathering the Weather.
The weather in Austin can be very fickle this time of year. Past ACL festivals have subjected attendees to intense heat, dust storms, and even lots of rain and mud. Watch the weather forecast, dress accordingly and always bring lots of sunscreen!
